"Saucer Country" #1–14 (2012) is a unique fusion of political thriller and science fiction, interweaving alien conspiracies with a U.S. presidential campaign. At the heart of the story is Colorado Governor Arcadia Alvarado, who announces her candidacy for president... while simultaneously convinced that she was abducted by aliens. As her team tries to manage her public image, Arcadia seeks to uncover the truth about UFOs, government cover-ups, and her own mental state. The comic explores paranoia, power, and the search for truth in an exceptionally mature way.
The script was written by Paul Cornell, with illustrations by Ryan Kelly. Visually, the comic balances between a realistic and metaphysical style.
